Bio

Karla Williams is an award-winning screenwriter and executive producer whose voice spans television, short film, and scripted audio. Known for her bold storytelling and commitment to centring underrepresented voices, Karla brings vision and purpose to every project she touches.

She was a contributing writer on Season 8 of the hit ITV drama Grantchester (produced by Kudos) and was part of the writers’ rooms for the Hattrick, Wonder Project, and the Amazon Prime drama SPIRES. Her audio storytelling credits include the Audible Original drama Famous and Legacy, a gripping podcast series produced by Wondery Media.

Karla’s acclaimed short film Pretty Bitch has screened internationally at prestigious festivals including the BFI Future Film Festival and the London Short Film Festival. Two of her monologues are featured in the anthology Hear Me Now: Audition Monologues for Actors of Colour published by Oberon Books.

In addition to her work as a writer, Karla is the founder of MsMono, a female-focused production company dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices. Through MsMono, she executive produced The Ride, a short film funded by BFI Network, Canada Council of the Arts, and Toronto Arts. She also co-wrote and executive produced an eight-part audio series in collaboration with Hat Trick Podcast, and is executive producing a new comedy-drama audio series, co-produced with Listen Audio, set to debut on Audible UK in July 2025.

Karla’s talent and leadership have been recognized across the industry. She is a member of BAFTA Connect and was selected for Momentum, the prestigious career development programme run by We Are Parable and supported by Channel 4 and Sony Pictures Television. She was also part of Thrive, a Creative Access programme backed by Banijay that supports rising talent in the creative industries and Foundations Programme by Creative Enterprise support by The National Lottery

With several original projects currently in development, Karla continues to build a body of work that is thoughtful, provocative, and unapologetically inclusive.
